Second Annual Women & Horses Expo will held November 6-8, 2009 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK. The event is geared towards women involved in the horse industry whether they are first time horse owners, long time horse owners, professional horse women, horse enthusiasts or horse related business owners.
The Women & Horses Expo TM will feature educational seminars, workshops and demonstrations with horsewomen in mind. Some of the top horsewomen in the industry will be speaking and sharing their knowledge and expertise in their field. A number of vendors, both local and national, will be displaying their products and services at the trade show.
This year the Women and Horses Expo will feature the “ Hands On Horse Experience” which will allow vendors to present their products to the public by actually demonstrating a product in the Hands On Arena. Vendors are a vital part
of any expo, a fact that Dog and Pony Productions realizes, which is the reason they want to offer this opportunity to vendors. Also available to vendors is a “Sonny Says Endorsement” . Sonny is an animatronic ( moving and speaking) horse head who will welcome and greet visitors to the Women & Horses Expo and, for a small speaking fee, Sonny will speak briefly about a product/service and direct visitors to the vendor’s booth.
Also new this year is the "Meet the Breeds Avenue". In keeping with our "Hands On Horse Experience" breed registries, clubs and associations will be featured in a special area on the arena floor that allows the audience to see individual
horses in a stall or strutting their stuff in the presentation rings. Unlike a breed demonstration in which the horses perform in a large arena while the audience watches from a distance this an area where they can meet the horses up close and personal.

Jochen is returning to Southerly Winds December 4-6th. Here is a wonderful opportunity to ride with an international level trainer. You can enter online at www.southerlywindsfarm.com.
Jochen Hippenstiel is an German government Certified Riding Master (Pfedewirtschaftsmeister) and is the head trainer of Tempel Lipizzans and has been since 2002. During that time, he has coached one of the most winning groups of riders at the USDF Region 2 Regional Dressage Championships.
He coached Katie Hamilton to team gold at the North American Young Rider’s Championship in 2005 and took her to compete at the first Young Rider World Cup Competition in Germany.
Throughout his coaching career, Hippenstiel has trained more than 20 horses to Grand Prix, including Adrett, ridden by Pia Laus for Italy in two Olympics and two World Cup competitions. Junior and young rider teams coached by Hippenstiel in Germany also won numerous regional and national titles in the 1980s. During his six years as national coach for Luxembourg (1992-1998), the country’s teams repeatedly qualified for the European Championships and Hippenstiel-coached senior rider Pierre Rossy for the European Championships, 1997; and the World Equestrian Games in Rome, 1998.
World Class Dressage Competitor
A world-class competitive rider in his own right, Hippenstiel competed in Germany’s national young rider championships at the young age of 14.
He has been coached by some of Europe’s most famous equestrians including three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Harry Boldt, and U.S. Team Coach Klaus Balkenhol.
Hippenstiel received his master’s degree as an instructor with one of the highest scores ever recorded, and twice placed second in the German Championships for professionals at the Grand Prix level.

The show will be judged by Laurie Hedlund at the Prairie Lane Stables in Collinsville. KDEA is excited to host a Betsy Steiner Equilates Clinic. Betsy is an international rider, trainer, clinician, and author of A Gymnastic Riding System using Mind, Body, & Spirit. She developed Equilates, an unique program for the Equestrian using the basic premises of Pilates: promoting elongation of the spine, muscular flexibility and balance, body awareness, and emphasis on strengthening the core. Betsy’s training system addresses the rider’s development first; a rider must train to be strong, supple, and learn to be aware of their body. Horses are reflections of their riders and only when a rider has control over their own position can one begin to reach their and their horse’s full potential. Please check KDEA’s website for details: www.kdea.org.

Camp General Schedule
• Our instructors this year are: Louise St. Amour, Sarah Martin, and Gigi Nutter.
• Applications will be available online Thursday, March 25, and hard copies will be at the Jeff Moore Symposium in Shawnee.
• The format will be a little different this year. We wanted to incorporate some time for riders to interact with the instructors for questions and clarifications of their lessons. One idea was to lengthen camp to four days, but that would increase our costs dramatically and everyone (horses included) is pretty tired by Sunday. Since our schedule is so packed, we will eliminate the lunchtime demonstrations and shorten the lunch break a little.
• Then 45 minutes before dinner on Friday and Saturday each group will meet their instructor to review their lessons that day.
• Friday and Saturday each rider will have a 45-minute group lesson followed by a 30-minute private lesson. On Sunday each rider will have one 45-minute private lesson. To come up with a lesson plan for Sunday, riders will meet with their Sunday instructor on Saturday night after dinner. We feel that by Sunday you know what you want to work on.
• All three instructors are very capable of meeting your needs.
• We will have evening lectures on Thursday and Friday.
• Yoga in the mornings. Massages will be available.
• Video will most likely be available.
