Jochen Hippenstiel is an German government Certified Riding Master (Pfedewirtschaftsmeister) and is the head trainer of Tempel Lipizzans and has been since 2002. Throughout his coaching career, Hippenstiel has trained more than 20 horses to Grand Prix, including Adrett, ridden by Pia Laus for Italy in two Olympics and two World Cup competitions. Junior and young rider teams coached by Hippenstiel in Germany also won numerous regional and national titles in the 1980s. During his six years as national coach for Luxembourg (1992-1998), the country’s teams repeatedly qualified for the European Championships and Hippenstiel-coached senior rider Pierre Rossy for the European Championships, 1997; and the World Equestrian Games in Rome, 1998. World Class Dressage Competitor A world-class competitive rider in his own right, Hippenstiel competed in Germany’s national young rider championships at the young age of 14. He has been coached by some of Europe’s most famous equestrians including three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Harry Boldt, and U.S. Team Coach Klaus Balkenhol. Hippenstiel received his master’s degree as an instructor with one of the highest scores ever recorded, and twice placed second in the German Championships for professionals at the Grand Prix level.
