Dear ODS, Chapter members, and equestrian groups,
As many of you know, we have recently lost a good friend and tireless ODS volunteer, Anne Kuhns, to a new adventure in Kentucky. When we knew she was serious was when she took her horses there and left them pending closing on a beautiful Kentucky home and acreage. We are very happy for her, but as a club we are realizing the huge "Anne Gap" we have to fill.
Anne was always in charge of the ODS trailer that houses our two dressage arenas with all the tools and accessories that go with it. She was always there to help set up the arenas and manage the tear down and repacking of the trailer.
Over the years, in order to take the best care possible of this costly, but indispensable resource, a protocol has been established for repacking the trailer after its use. Since Anne was always around to direct this process, not many of the rest of us have paid enough attention to the details.
To correct this deficit, the ODS board has decided to host a Trailer Packing Seminar at LilyPond Estates on Sunday, April 22 at 2pm. We will get out one arena, set it up in the indoor arena, tear it down and repack the trailer.
The board has also decided that in order to ensure proper use of the trailer and its contents, any group wanting to use the arenas will have to have at least one person who has been trained in packing the trailer be responsible when the trailer is used. There will also be a $200 deposit charged that will be returned when the trailer is returned in good order.
At the seminar, we will go over all the "best practice" methods of measuring and setting up the arena that can save at least an hour in arena set-up.
